This is a small personal project to try get familiarized with a new tool, Unreal Engine.
It's been quite a while since my last personal project due to my day job and It was nice to hace a little something cooking in the back :)
The objective was to recreate a simple living room space with a cyberpunk aesthetic (which I didn't know much about) and have it lit in UE5.
Separated the work in the following steps:
1st part: Getting ready
1. Understanding task: research & rough modeling
2. Design: objects & world
3. Modeling: simple shape & uvs
2nd part: Unreal Engine
4. Recreating the scene
5. Brushing up ideas
6. Fine tuning
7. Final check and adjustments
The process was quite smooth, there was some back and forth between some steps but
nothing unexpected (i.e. modifying an asset’s geometry after balancing scene lighting).
Luckily there's a lot of great resources available for free on how to use UE (that 5 hour video on youtube by Unreal Sensei is a godsend) so didn't have much problems in getting used to the software.
by the way, Bayonetta 3 used a in-house engine and let me tell you this way is so much easier...!
I can see myself working with more ease doing environment modeling for a videogame using UE.
For me, in this moment, I find Light to be such a tricky thing, would love to test a more realistic setting but for now I have learned the basics of UE and that's great for the time being.
